Craig Santos Perez, a native Chamorro from the Pacific Island of Guahån (Guam), has lived in California since 1995. He is the co-founder of Achiote Press and author of several chapbooks, including all with ocean views (Overhere Press, 2007) and preterrain (Corollary Press, 2008). His first book, from unincorporated territory, has just been published by Tinfish Press. His poetry, essays, reviews, and translations have appeared in New American Writing, Pleiades, The Denver Quarterly, Jacket, Sentence, and Rain Taxi, among others

hello handsome is the most recent project of singer/guitarist/songwriter sarah k. sarah has been playing since 2002, in bands such as The Black Diamonds (Olympia, WA) and The Parties (SF, Rainbow Quartz Records). She has also been active in the music community through her involvement in co-founding the Bay Area Girls Rock Camp, a nonprofit music camp for girls.


Dr. Opal Palmer Adisa, Jamaica-born, is a sought-after speaker who has lectured throughout the United States, South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Germany, England and Prague. An award-winning poet and prose writer Dr. Adisa has eleven titles to her credit, including the novel, It Begins With Tears (1997), that Rick Ayers proclaimed as one of the most motivational works for young adults. She has been a resident artist in internationally acclaimed residencies such as Binational Fulbright Institute ( Egypt), Sacatar Institute (Brazil) and Headlines Center for the Arts (California, USA). Dr. Adisa is a full professor of creative writing and literature at California College of the Arts. She has taught at several universities including, Stanford University and University of California, Berkley. Recognition of her work has come in the form of many awards and honors; among them a nomination as Poet Laureate for the State of California in 2002.



Also at the studio this first friday is an art walk and reception. Studio One artists will be around to talk about their displayed art and cool people will be there to look at it and buy it. The reception starts at 530pm. Join us!
